Nestled inside the hills of Munnar and very near to the Anamudi peak lies Mattupetty, the hill station at a height of 1,700 m. This is located 19 km away from Blanket Hotel and Spa. The main attraction of Mattupetty is the dam and the lake here.
The dam of Mattupetty is a storage concrete gravity dam. The dam was constructed under the Pallivasal Hydro-electric project in the late 1940s. The area surrounded 105 square kilometres. The serene ambience of the lake will take to a world of peace, have endless options – either can go for boating in the lake or sit on the shore enjoying the tranquillity here.

Tea Museum

The Tata Tea Museum set up at Munnar showcases and highlights some of the finest and fascinating aspects which took place during the evolution and growth of tea plantations in this part of Kerala. The museum keeps intact the history of tea plantation in Munnar, India, and all over the world. Photographs, curios, and machineries pertaining to the tea industry are highlighted at the museum, each one depicting a turning point in the concerned industry in the locality. The museum, established at the Nallathanni Estate of Tata Tea in Munnar, is truly a tribute to the hard work and rigors of pioneers and leaders in this field who worked out their sweat and blood to make this industry flourish to this extent. The museum is open all days from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. except on Mondays. The museum is about 11 kilometres from Blanket Hotel and Spa.

Eravikulam National Park

Eravikulam national park is spread over an extensive area of 97 sq km along the crest of Western Ghats in the high ranges of Idukki district. The park located 23 km away from Blanket Hotel and Spa. This national park holds the largest viable population of Tahr, several other species of rare animals, birds and butterflies. The tourism zone will be closed in calving season during Feb – March every year.
The park offers a magnificent view of the tea plantations and also of the rolling hills caressed by the mist. The park becomes a hot destination when the hill slopes get covered in a carpet of blue, resulting from the flowering of Neelakurinji. It is a plant endemic to this part of the Western Ghats which blooms once in twelve years.

Echo Point

The name from natural echo phenomenon situated at a scenic lake bank. When you scream at here, you will be hearing your voice returning to you. Placed at an altitude about 600 ft, Echo Point is located 23 km away from Blanket Hotel and Spa. Echo Point always has a greenish look as it is covered with abundant green sceneries. It is an adventurous destination, which will be a perfect choice for those who love to have a nature walk or trekking. The place surrounded with mist covered hills, waterfalls and clean air will be a visual treat.

Chinnar wildlife sanctuary

Chinnar is located in the rainshadow region of Western Ghats and receives very less amount of rainfall every year. Due to this extensive variation of rainfall, Chinnar is blessed with a wide array of habitat types like deciduous forests, dry thorn scrub, riparian forest, shoals and grasslands. The area is diverse in eco systems and rich in ethnic cultural heritage. Chinnar has about 1000 species of flowering plants and a wide variety of medicinal plants. You can sight here 225 recorded species of birds and also the endangered species of Giant Grizzled Squirrel of India. Other important mammals can see, here are elephant, tiger, leopard, guar, sambar, spotted deer, Nilgiri Tahr etc


Marayoor, located 48 km from Blanket Hotel and Spa, is a rain shadow village lying in the eastern side of the Western Ghats and is bordered by the neighbouring state Tamil Nadu. Marayoor is the only place in Kerala with a natural growth of sandalwood trees.Sandalwood, the famous aromatic wood is yielded by the family of trees belonging to the genus Santalum. This particular wood which is heavy, fine-grained and yellow in color, retains its fragrance for decades.
Marayoor Sarkkara( Jaggery) is one of the sweetest jaggeries in the world. Sugarcane farms in Marayoor known for a tasty variety of solid molasses Marayoor, can see ancient dolmens(Muniyara) and rock paintings which date back to the Stone Age. These Muniyaras are made with four stones to make a box shape and with one stone to cover it.
The place is inhabited by a group of tribals who are primarily engaged in agriculture. The temperature in summer goes up to 30 degree Celsius while the winter temperature can come down to as low as 8 degree Celsius.
